The Association Trenca, through Employment Service of Catalonia, has hired a person responsible for reporting on the characteristics of the Thyme of Alfés.
During all this year the Thyme of Alfés will have an informant who will disseminate the singularities of this protected and singular area. With the help of an information leaflet and indicative bills, he will show us this unique area in Catalonia.
It is the only area of wild thyme that has been preserved until today in Catalonia.
Steppe vegetation in nature provides a rich and unique biodiversity in these areas. The best example of this biodiversity is the Dupont’s lark (Chersophilus duponti), which is located only at this site in Catalonia. The species became extinct in 2005 in Catalonia, but in 2016 was again detected in the area. Trenca association signed a land stewardship agreement in 2014 with the Ministry of Territory and Sustainability, to collaborate in conservation and improvement of this unique natural area.
We invite you to discover this unique area in Catalonia!
The hiring of this informant has been able thanks to the support of the Employment Service of Catalonia and the Public State Employment Service.
