A unique photographic hide in the wild heart of the Pyrenees
In a vantage point among the high mountains of the Pallars region, dominating the entrance of the wild Vall Fosca, ‘Casa Daniela’ is a unique place to enjoy the carrion birds of the Pyrenees.
There, we have created a Supplementary Feeding Point to support the conservation of these majestic birds, and a photographic hide completely merged into the landscape. You’ll be able to photograph them without interference, against the magnificent backdrop of the mountains. A dream for any wildlife lover, which also contributes to rural development in the Pyrenees.
An incredible diversity of birdlife
‘Casa Daniela’ is part of Trenca’s SPF Network, strategically located to offer a safe and stable source of food for the carrion birds of the Pyrenees. With this initiative we strengthen the conservation of these birds, key to the ecological balance, and we reduce the impact of poisoning on their populations.
In the SPF a special “carrion menu” is given to the birds, in collaboration with local farmers, to benefit a diversity of species. As much as seven species of birds have been observed using the SPF in a single day.
An strategic spot for the expansion of the black vulture
From ‘Casa Daniela’ you can see Bourmort’s National Game Reserve, the core of the only black vulture colony in the Pyrenees. The SPF is located in an strategic spot to favour and consolidate the expansion of the species across the Pyrenees, towards the west of the range.
Rural development in harmony with biodiversity
‘Casa Daniela’ has been developed in collaboration with the small town of Senterada, which saw in this photographic hide an an opportunity for rural development linked to the conservation of the extraordinary biodiversity of these mountains. The goal is that the people who come to enjoy the SPF can also eat, stay and contribute to the village’s businesses.
